Noonday + Pearls

“Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.” Isaiah 1:17

The Pearl Project is on a mission for women to flourish and to live out their God-given calling in their everyday lives. We love the Jesus model that is to show God’s love for each and every person we come in contact with by ‘being ‘His hands and His feet’ in the world.

As Christians we are specifically tasked to care for the widows, the orphans, and the sick. That means getting our hands dirty, it means identifying needs, it means giving up our comfort sometimes for those in need, it means loving people in practical ways, and it means offering opportunity and hope wherever we go, however we can.

Jesus’s life is THE model for how to do that: Sacrificial Love.

We have partnered with Noonday Collection who shares this very same mission. Noonday is a socially responsible business that uses fashion, particularly jewelry, to create opportunity for women and children in vulnerable regions of the world.

partners with Artisan Businesses in 13 countries around the world to offer them a marketplace in the United States for their businesses to flourish; a market that they would otherwise not have because of the lack of resources and disposable income in their regions.

Through these American marketplaces (Online Shopping + Trunk Shows), opportunity for dignified work is available to women through these Artisan Businesses because they are able to employ more and more women who are escaping sex slavery, warfare, and extreme poverty in exchange for a fair and living wage.

Noonday + The Pearl Project
It is our longterm goal to be able to compliment the work that Noonday is already doing in the lives of people all around the world by offering a Discipleship Opportunity to go hand-in-hand with the practical help that Noonday offers to these women.

The recipe for human flourishing throughout the Bible is a holistic approach. It incorporates the body, the mind, the soul, and the spirit, where there is no division when we speak of the human person. We are thriving when our basic needs are taken care of (when we have food and shelter and water), as well as when we have our Spiritual needs met.

The Pearl Project would love to offer resources, literature, and a physical presence in the various regions of the world where Noonday is also doing its work.

What we envision is this:
While Noonday comes in to offer the practical support in terms of offering dignified work and opportunity for these women and their families, simultaneously The Pearl Project would love to offer the option for women to take part in some discipleship/teaching/mentorship about who Jesus is, why His life, death and resurrection matters, and what that means for us today.

We want to go and be with the women, hear their stories, and encourage them and empower them through the work of the Holy Spirit.

In areas like Rwanda for example where the genocide of the 90’s is still taking its toll systemically, some women are forced to give their children up for adoption because they cannot afford to feed them and care for them any longer. Many of their men died in the warfare, and so they are left with little option for survival, let alone options for dignified work as women.

Noonday has been incredibly dynamic in their assistance of these Artisan business in order to offer dignified work to women so that they are able to keep their children, and care for their families.

Noonday offers free childcare so that women genuinely have a chance to get ahead. They offer no-interest loans to the businesses themselves when major supplies are needed, and also offers business expertise and leadership to the artisan business owners to help these business advance and grow to a sustainable level for the benefit of the entire community.

Noonday is a certified B Corp which means that they have the literal highest standards for business practices, legal accountability, verified public transparency, and social and environmental performance standards. Noonday is thus representative of a business that aspires to use the power of markets to solve social and environmental problems.

Businesses like Noonday are leaders in a growing global movement of people using business as a force for good. The Pearl Project shares every ounce of the passion and the vision of Noonday, and there will be ample collaboration of these two projects.

“Together we create a flourishing world where people have jobs, women are empowered, children are cherished, and we are connected.” Noonday Collection
